Pastor Petes Story

I was born and raised in Riverside, CA., and later moved to Moreno Valley, CA.

I was raised a catholic, went to catholic school for 9 years, was an altar boy, and sang in the choir.

My Father served in the United States Army and he was a Green Beret in Vietnam.

Upon his return from the war, he became a satanist.

So, in my childhood, my Father had a room next to mine that was dedicated to satan.

So, to say the least, I saw a lot of demonic activity throughout my childhood and while growing up into my twenties.

I believe God always protected me and I became "Born Again" as it says in John 3:3 at Harvest Church in Riverside in 1990.

My Father was also Born Again 7 months before me.

My life before I was saved by Jesus Christ, was leading me to the penitentiary or to the graveyard, but by God's grace and mercy, God had other plans for me.

I was kind of like a "Slow boat to China" in the beginning of my walk with the Lord, but I kept going to church faithfully.

Like Philippians 1:6 says, "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

I married my beautiful bride Carla Perez (aka: Riblet) on June 15,1996 and we have 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

In the church, I was raised up from a knucklehead to a Pastor, and was ordained on June 15, 2003 by my great friend and Pastor, Mike Lewis.

I served in a church called "Free Indeed" for 26 years.

Then in 2016, God answered a personal prayer between Him and I alone about planting a church.

On August 7, 2016 God gave me the name of the church based on our founding verse: Acts 11:23 "When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with "Purpose of Heart" they should continue with the Lord."

So, with a blessing, we moved forward to found and plant "Purpose of Heart Ministries" and held our first service.

This was after faithfully meeting for prayer with my brother Vince every Wednesday morning at 6:00 am at the gates of the current building we are in.

James 5:16 says, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

God heard and blessed those prayers, and we had our first service on September 17,2017.

We have continued to meet every Wednesday morning for prayer in a parking lot after we get a coffee.

I like to call it our tailgate prayer meeting with Jesus.

It truly is a joy and an honor to Pastor Purpose of Heart Ministries where we teach the Word of God expository style (verse by verse, chapter by chapter), where we worship the Lord with good worship that prepares our hearts for surgery from God's Word, and continue to pray for, and love on people.

My prayer as a Pastor is that people will be saved, filled up with the Holy Spirit, evangelize, learn to love others, and serve.

I am a shepherd at heart, but love to evangelize.

Also, in the last couple of years, God has made me a missionary Pastor as well, traveling to Haiti and Mexico.

I am a blessed man to serve with my wife Carla in ministry as we are equally yoked together for the Lord's service to build His Kingdom.
